On my list is getting a hand pump for our well. It’s really the thing that limits our preparedness for no power. We heat with wood and got plenty and it easy enough to cook on a fire outside. But the well is on an electric pump. Otherwise we can bunker down in rural Ontario for a while .
Any aware individual would be truly puzzled over this escalation. The color revolution of 2014 was horrible; the 2022 start of war was grotesque; the loss of a million lives, the destruction of the land, all of it, from this avoidable war: just beyond horrifying. This latest ATACMS deep into Russia really blows the mind. There is no way to understand the UK, and the EU and NATO countries pushing this because they really do not have the means to defend themselves when Russia hits back. I'm not sure the USA has the means either, no matter what the weaponry. This is suicide. Evil is deranged, and stupid, but I didn't realize it was this stupid. I can only understand this latest action and the rhetoric of all the assholes in the Western governments behind it, as the last gasp of an animal that is dying, and knows it is.
The US does not have the means to fight back, it is strained, and being drained quickly, Europe has no industrial base and it literally depends on both Russia, and the US for its critical... everything.
This escalation come from hubris and the misguided conception the entire Western world can re-industrialize within a short time, as if there won't be any blowback and our adversaries won't engage, fully, in hybrid war.
The European elites in particular are quite literally a suicidal death cult, they want society to stop progressing. Degrowth is a death cult.
