Hopefully this article conveys the message as I thought in my head. Some points here will make more sense in the near future. And I may just expand on this next month. Lots of caveats to many aspects of this.

Such as using migrants as precision guided "bioweapons".

This article is brilliant! Really cant wait for more!!!!!!

🙏 Do expand on this next month 🙏 Thank you

I have a certain problem writing some of this, because as you can clearly tell, one can use it as a "how to" guide without much effort. It does not take a lot of effort (prompting) to jailbreak any of the current chatbots to do what you want them to.

I understand "the problem". Not sure if getting governments to "regulate" it is the solution. Just look at the history of how many regular lab "leaks" have been happening around the world for decades.

Evil will continue to exist regardless. At lease if more people have access to high end technology....maybe we might find the cure for "everything".

Oh I am in the opposite side of the spectrum. It is borderline impossible to regulate everything I talked about here anymore, people will find ways, black markets (that already exist) will increase in number and access, the more you regulate, harder it becomes to track down.

Your last phrase is the reason I am so pro-AI to everyone, so we can actually solve issues.

"A new, cutting-edge DNA printer costs roughly between 50.000 to 150.000 USD."

To put this cost in perspective for readers, our lower-tech microscopes run $400,000 to $900,000. Batches of scientists from many countries, whose backgrounds and motivations are unknown, cycle in and out of labs and have access to all of the equipment and data. It's a trust-based system.

Thank you for bringing more attention to Alphafold as I have tried to as well, but without much success.

AlphaFold is incredibly hyped and widely used by most of the field, criticizing it is akin to criticizing the mRNA.

You are brilliant.  Thank you. I haven't read clearer article on AI  arms race encompassing all the levels you covered in this masterpiece of substack article. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Woooow! This is soooooooo intresting. So many levels to consider.

I guess we are living in times which require heightened susceptibility to the promisses of life and consistent dialogue  with oneself from the perspective :" If I was to die tomorrow how would I best live this moment, the day after and so on. I guess nothing makes us more alive than accepting the reality of potentially dying the next moment.

Did you ruin my Sunday, or bring any bad vibes?

Absolutely NOOOOOT! You just made me open my eyes wider, look inside myself deeper and embrace fully every moment left to live as if it was my last.

Thank you Moriarty @ThingsHiddenn ❤

There are many other aspects of the arms race that I may cover on another piece, centered on other non-scienfitic subjects, but for the purposes here, this does well, you are far too kind with your words.

As Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) said himself recently "The best way to adapt to AI is learning how to use the tools, become adaptable, up to speed with changes". In simpler words not even he knows where this is going, but being apt to adapt is the best approach in life IMO. I don't think this is the end of our race, but this will create pockets of chaos at a consistent rate, which governments will exploit to push bullshit.

Just trying to mitigate loss of life and governmental over-reach.

Totally in agreement with you about everything. No hesitation. Yup!

Hopefully "pockets of chaos" will be created more democratically

Basically I read this as we all will be at the mercy of illness beyond our control, some may have access to wellness while others do not, rogue minds might find keys to wellness with the help of AI/technology but that’s a toss up.

So a life of death and sickness awaits us. We can hope the rogue win out over the corporate elite but that’s just hope.

As the battle between corporate giants and rogue agents rages most will be in the helpless middle.

Sounds uplifting. 😂

This is why the spiritual battle is the only one people like me have left. That’s the power we littles can tap into. Beyond that it’s all just money, power, science that’s beyond the common man’s grasp.

I’m grateful to the rogues for whatever they can offer but I won’t put my hope in them as I know that thru out history the odds are not in their favor.

These are the times I was placed to live in and I must accept my role and make the best of it spiritually.

outcomes look unpleasant. Sufficient disruption would trigger a snowballing collapse of economic webs, reduced food, population and the return to flint knapping as the new killer app.

I don't think so, but clearly we need better systems in place to mitigate and deal with the risks, from my perspective it is unavoidable. Synthethic biology is going the opposite route, becoming so cheaper and accessible, there is no amount of regulation to stop this, just delaying a little bit.
