Terror threat pouring through the border

I was undecided about where to publish this one, but given that most of my readers are US residents, this is a better place to publish it today, perhaps I may publish and add information not suitable to this substack in my other publication. In case you forgot, I give myself the leeway to publish topics or breaking news unrelated to health in this Substack (which mostly focuses on health, science, and SARS-CoV-2).

Perhaps a portion or even many of you are aware, perhaps you are not. After Israel decided to go Full Metal on Gaza and attempt to (and fail) hunt down Hamas, Newton’s Third Law came into full effect. Every action begets an opposite reaction. Giving birth to a dangerous situation that may spill over throughout the region but also fomenting the most basic of human traits, and a common behavior within religious demographics. Revenge.

A few random terrorist attacks as revenge for Israel’s actions and especially Western governments happened, but for the most part, these were random events, not exactly planned, though the more the West pushed and gave support more fuel to these embers of hate they added, and any person with an ounce of common sense could sense what would happen.

The DHS and the FBI raised the terror threat level, Europol did the same in Europe, and other Intelligence agencies sent out internal memos. But a recent leak gives more insight into the situation. A San Diego Field Office leaked report states the obvious.

With its Southern border wide open, little to no security, pouring in hundreds of thousands of unvetted migrants, and years later to the part, they now expect potential terrorists to get into the country. But what caught my eye was this line.

"Foreign fighters motivated by ideology or mercenary soldiers of fortune may attempt to obfuscate travel to or from the US to or from countries in the Middle East through Mexico."

It is not every day you read Intelligence services, even if at the state or regional level outright naming mercenaries as potential infiltrators, which they are, and often a higher threat than your random Ahmed. It has been documented since the current administration got into the White House that many adversaries of the United States were using open borders to get inside the US.

And here we face the harsh reality. Even with some military training, and some combat, without minimizing loss of life, most potential terrorist threats will amount to the usual pattern. Using a vehicle, or a gun, killing a few to a dozen people, the very definition of a terror attack, but the other side…

There are highly skilled Middle Eastern soldiers getting through the border, these most likely are better trained and have access to in-country resources, some most likely have training or are from Special Forces units, and these are the real threat. Loss of life is horrendous, but attacks on critical infrastructure in an already weak state are much worse.

The same applies to mercenaries who get through the border, who tend to have more combat experience, are better trained, and usually travel in teams. They are as much a threat as any highly trained, ideologically motivated “terrorist”. The Border Patrol itself has arrested record numbers of potential terrorists recently.

You should stay vigilant, and if possible, mildly prepared. You should remember the words of Xi Jinping on May 30, 2023, when he hosted the first meeting of the 20th Central National Security Commission.

"Right now, there are changes – the likes of which we haven’t seen for 100 years – and let’s drive these changes together.

The first tactic of Hybrid Warfare, and the most obvious of all is the use of proxy forces to enact acts of terror as a diversion tactic, thus diverting your adversary's attention and resources from places where it really matters. Also inducing internal political strife, civil unrest, and the list can get exhausting long.

Without taking into account the broad new changes in the digital world, and how advanced cyber warfare capabilities have become, if the West insists on supporting Ukraine, but especially Israel, and Israel keeps baiting and bravado’ing the region into a larger conflict, it would be wise to expect more “accidents”, “fires”, “explosions” and “derailments” within the next months.

Spreading an Empire too thin, and draining resources is a tactic as old as warfare itself.

Also, remember as a safe precaution, terrorists love to enact big attacks in the last 6 weeks of the year, but especially in December.

As a byproduct of chaos created by their own ineptitude, when these events occur, rest assured no politician will let the chance go to waste and push hard for broader control of social media, data, and “mis/dis/information”. And you can bet whatever you are comfortable losing that they will, 100% use the lessons learned from the pandemic to push these draconian measures.
