We will take things into steps first and foremost, but readers should remind themselves of the Nova Swan graph/map I shared in my last substack.
As one would expect in the age of social networks ruled by network effects, and by mimesis (the unconscious cognitive trait of copying other’s behaviors, for multiple yet somewhat individual reasons), civil unrest spread, fast, “far and wide”. As of the last 24 hours, both Belgium and Switzerland started to experience similar levels of unrest as France, but not at the same level of chaos and property destruction, and at this point unparalleled crime.
Given the level of chaos in France, the police in the Lake Geneva region are already clamping down on what mostly constitutes teenagers rioting, arresting a few dozen in Lausanne. And as any person with a modicum of awareness on how geopolitics and the power game elites indulge played, it barely took 24 hours for the French government and Macron to enact exactly what I wrote they would. Unconstitutional power grabs for the sake of quelling the riots.
Do not get me wrong, these events are meaningful at multiple levels, and if you use the proper lens to analyze these events, you can have a deeper understanding of complex systems and complexity than your average academic “nerd”. If you decide to use this event or the ones to come as starting points to adopt a new perspective or analytical framework, you must “leave your emotions at the door”, and so your politics. If not, you suffer a lot of meaningful “data loss”.
Although on a superficial level, the event in question serves as a power grab and big strides towards the capriciously centralized systems the WEF, WHO, and the EU autocrats so much desire, this is also something I often refer to as “the Magician’s hands”. Paying attention to what goes behind the covers of the magician’s show is as fruitful as being aware of what goes around the magician’s hands. The current cascade of events can give you insight into how far, how fast, and how compromised politicians and institutions are.
In my analytical framework (and many others in fact), chaos often is both complexity you just don’t understand yet, and subterfuge, shrouding strategic moves in darkness. While most people pay almost exclusively attention to viral, or psy oped events, more meaningful events take place behind the Magician’s back, while your attention resided solely in its hands and the magic trick.
I will touch on another variable that comes into play on important events going on without awareness, but after all this how many people you know are aware that TSMC, what basically entails to the biggest (closely as sole) chip manufacturer in the entire planet got hit by a cyberattack. In fact, the second time a subsidiary of theirs got hit in 6 months, suffering a data breach. The subsidiary in question was Kinmax and among its partner companies, you can find nVidia, HPE, Cisco, and Microsoft. At the same time, one of the satellite companies used by the Russian military got hit by a cyberattack, knocking off its communications.
Generally overlooked at this point, another trend is train derailment near water bodies, such as the most recent one in Montana’s Yellowstone River, where asphalt binder poured into the river, is now being cleaned up. But the following one bears more significance.
Highly radioactive spill near Columbia River in E. Washington worse than expected
The spill of highly radioactive waste beneath a building on the Hanford nuclear reservation north of Richland and near the Columbia River is both deeper and broader than anticipated.
In a statement Thursday, the Department of Energy said the contamination in the soil at the Hanford 324 Building 1,000 feet from the Columbia River and a mile north of Richland is “much larger” than previously identified. Now the Department of Energy is rethinking the cleanup plan for the spill discovered 13 years ago, with work crews making preparations for the excavation of the radioactive material over the past six years.
The spill of cesium and strontium in the soil beneath the 324 Building is so radioactively hot that it would be lethal to a worker on direct contact within two minutes, DOE has said previously. Radioactivity in the contaminated soil has been measured at 8,900 rad per hour. The plan has been to leave the 324 Building standing to act as a barrier to prevent precipitation from reaching the underground contamination and driving it closer to the groundwater, which moves toward the Columbia River.
After that was completed in the fall of 2022, the next step for DOE contractor Central Plateau Cleanup Co. was to install underground horizontal supports into the soil outside the footprint of the building by injecting concrete-like grout into the soil to form blocks. The intent was to help prevent the sloughing of soil during excavation of contamination. As that work began, contaminated soil was discovered in a wider area beneath the building, where it was not expected.
Of course, the endless trend of industrial explosions goes on. Now I shall touch on the variable mentioned a few paragraphs above. Earlier this weekend, Twitter’s moron-in-chief decided to make drastic changes to user’s ability to read tweets, making the platform borderline useless for most people, and basically DDoS’ing themselves. Such a decision effectively killed the flow of information and it was a nice study on network collapse.
The timing was the most curious, as Twitter is the main source of fast-spreading information and news these days, even legacy media got a little dry on the content since they rely heavily on Twitter for breaking news. This decision has less to do with current events, or some hidden agenda and everything to do with… AI.
Most of the biggest social media and text-based sites made or are making changes to their API (a form to integrate different platforms) because AI companies are effectively sucking up all the data for free, to train their Large Language Models. The internet will become increasingly “paywalled” or walled in other forms, but I disagree, this isn’t the time to talk about this, but to bring up another point. The most common and powerful AI used at this point, ChatGPT now has web browsing capabilities and effectively can bypass most paywalls (it can do much more, such as summarize entire hours-long videos on YouTube, etc). LLMs will change the nature of the web in many ways.
A large point of disagreement between me and a few people I maintain a conversation with is how governments and possibly “the elites” will shut down the internet, which I have stated multiple times, they won’t. They will either cause local blackouts or segregate them into blocks every so often. This leads me to my actual point, you must find alternative ways to communicate with people that do not rely on conventional “big data” protocols, APIs, or sites.
My preferred method for years has been Element, an app similar to WhatsApp but completely anonymous, with good encryption, and decentralized, another option is Nostr. Given their decentralized nature, even if pockets of the internet go down, effective communication is still possible. Give it a thought as merely a backup plan, who knows if you might need it, might come in handy sometime.
To finish this substack I will leave you with this. Think about it, and analyze it from the Nova Swan lens. And a message from past me, that fits the next months.
Thank you for supporting my work !
Did you know that China is still buying record grain levels even this year (this is 3 years in a row) ?
They are also importing HISTORICAL LEVELS of LNG (Liquid gas) as if there was still a massive shortage.
Pay attention to what goes behind the magician's hands. =)
Next substack will be the Nova Swan probably, even if take me a few days, it bears more significant and "usefulness".
